FDU State Authorizations

The US Department of Education requires all higher education institutions, other than federal institutions and tribal institutions, to comply with the laws and regulations of the states in which they operate. These laws and regulations often include registration and/or approval of fully online distance learning programs offered to students residing in each state.  Higher education institutions also are required to provide contact information for the government agency in each state responsible for addressing student complaints.

Students enrolled in online programs must contact FDU at online@fdu.edu or 201-692-7357 to discuss any change in their state of residence prior to relocation. Please be advised that continued enrollment cannot be guaranteed.

State Authorization Status for Distance Learning Programs

Please review the current authorization status for the state in which you currently reside, including any limitations on program offerings, such as exclusions for internships or clinical practicums. Although Fairleigh Dickinson University is committed to offering all of our distance learning programs in every state, as well as Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and other sovereign territories, it is presently impractical to do so due to the complexity and cost of registering in some jurisdictions. If Fairleigh Dickinson University does not currently provide distance education in your state, or if your program of interest is excluded, please check back as authorization status information is updated periodically.
